Oben Electric plans to launch a sub Rs 1 lakh electric bike

Oben Electric Bike, a Bengaluru-based startup, is working on its second electric motorcycle. This new bike will be built on the O100 platform and aims to be priced under Rs 1 lakh. This move is designed to capture the highly competitive 100cc commuter segment in India.

O100 Platform Details

The O100 platform is modular and scalable, meaning it can support different battery sizes and bike variants. This flexibility allows Oben to cater to a wide range of customers and market segments. The platform will underpin the new affordable electric bike and future models as well.

Positioning in Product Line

This upcoming model will sit below Oben’s existing Rorr EZ and Rorr bikes, which are built on the ARX platform. Those models are priced between Rs 90,000 and Rs 1.5 lakh. The new bike will offer a lower-priced option to attract budget-conscious buyers.

Target Market

Oben aims to target the popular 100cc-equivalent motorcycle segment, which accounts for nearly 30 percent of India’s two-wheeler market. The affordable pricing and electric powertrain make it an attractive alternative to petrol-powered bikes in this class.

Competitors

Once launched, the new Oben electric bike will compete with popular models like the Ampere Zeal and Revolt RV BlazeX. These bikes also target budget buyers interested in electric mobility and lower running costs.

Future Outlook

The O100 platform’s scalability means Oben can expand its electric bike range with multiple variants and battery options in the future. This will help the company strengthen its presence in India’s growing electric two-wheeler market.
